# Solution overview

Gate enables merchants to process payments and payouts using various payment methods.

For payments, two request processing options are available: using a **hosted payment page** and **host-to-host** mode. In the first case, payment details are entered on the Gate payment page, which removes the need for the merchant to implement its own PCI DSS controls for card data entry. In this mode, Gate can also provide an auxiliary page for 3-D Secure authentication, even if the merchant collects card data independently and already complies with PCI DSS. In host-to-host mode, payment details data is entered on the merchant side, which requires PCI DSS compliance for card payments.

For payouts, only the host-to-host option is implemented.
